hi peeps. I am currently working on a 2D model to investigate delamination in a homogeneous material with the approach of Virtual Crack Closure Technique (VCCT). I have some problems with assigning the material card to be Orthotropic. I used *ELASTIC, type=ENGINEERING CONSTANTS for inputting my material properties but I kept receiving the error msg:
*ERROR: Anisotropic material properties without a local orientation system have been defined for 240 elements. Anisotripic material properties must be defined in a local orientation system. The elements are identified in element set ErrElemAnisotropicMaterial.
I am using a solid section for this model because when I used a shell section, it doesnt work on a 2D model; saying the (S4R) elements dont match because they are a 3D-edge element.
I understand that it requires an orientation input but since this is a homogeneous material, I would assume there is no need for me to input any orientation for this (2D) model. Even after I did try inputting the orientations into the input file, more errors surfaced such as (CPE4) element type is not suitable for layered material properties and then it leads me back to the same old error of mismatch in elements between 2D and 3D...
Anyone able to drop in some help pls? In desperate need of help here
