It will depend on the normal load and sliding velocity, but 316L vs. 316L is extremely sensitive to galling. Just tightening stainless steel fasteners can result in galling, so short duty cycle will not necessarily preclude this from occurring.
Possible galling.
Carpenter Technology suggests a surface roughness of 15-50 microinch (rms), a good lubricant such as moly. disulfide, and low applied load (say, < 1000 psi) to avoid galling.
Adding to TVP's example, many people first encounter galling when they cannot undo a 316L in/on 316L fastener -- the bolt snaps due to cold welded threads.
