3D DXF translation

Does anyone know of a method of getting 3D data out of CATIA V5 into DXF format? My only experience with DXF is with 2D however we have a need to get 3D wireframe into another application. Thanks!

Hi,

And why don't you try with igs files? Just save like igs.

As far as I know almost every CAD software accept igs. And for sure you will have wireframes.

My problem is the application only accepts wireframe data in DXF format. If you know of an IGES to DXF translator I'd be interested.

i have exported 3d dxf data before from various software packages(i think i have anyway, it was a lonnnng time ago)in your case, it would help to know the software that you were going to import it in with?

is it from, for example, catia to autocad?

i just tried to export a 3D from Catia v5 to unigraphics, but it comes in as flat...



im stumped, you might have to iges or step it out into some lower end cad software and output to dxf from there...
