3D Rotating & Image Looks Faceted... 2

Up until recently I have been able to rotate the 3D image (Using a 3DConnection Spaceball) and the image stayed detailed. We are running UG/NX7.5.5.4 on Dell workstations and this new faceted effect is not what I am used to.

Even after the image resets after the rotation ceases the image is not as clear as it used to be.

Has one of the settings/preferences been changed and should I be able to fix this?

Thanks for your help,
Gary Ashby

You're working in a Assembly, correct? If so, what you're seeing is the effect of using 'Lightweight Representations' instead of exact models. This will improve performance when manipulating the display of your Assembly. The fact that it looks even more faceted while it's being moved is something called 'Levels of Detail' which helps to improve dynamic performance even more, particularly with large and complex Assemblies. Note that your models have NOT changed in anyway, only how they appear when view your Assembly. Note that this behaviors can be disabled or overridden, but I would recommend that you get used to it since this is the standard out-of-the-box behavior starting with NX 7.5 and was done to improve system performance and in later releases, we are going to depend more and more on using this 'lightweight' scheme to continue to improve system performance.
