3D scanners or ?????

I would appreciate if somebody gives me any information on 3D scanners, or anything else, used to detect defects and, eventually control dimension of products on production line. Te idea is to compare actual part with its 3D model.

Thank you Cory. I already went through this site and this is not what I am looking for. I need something that would actually perform check on production line, in real time. Also, I do not need complete 3D image of a product. I need a surface scan (just from one side). I have contacted a few companies that are in this business but all they had was for automotive, reverse engineering, etc.
I am still looking. It has to be something out there.
Anyways, I really appreciate your help.

Try the TesaScan units from Brown and Sharpe. They work well for a quick 2D scan and could probably output directly to a CNC machine to make in-process adjustments.
