I have heard that it’s possible to view 3D-annotations in the 3D XML Player, but when I open a XML-file with annotations in the 3D XML player the annotations don’t shows.

Is there anyone who knows if it’s possible to view annotations in the 3D XML Player? Is it possible to take measurements in this Player?

The annotations are not visible in the Free 3DXML player and are unlikley to ever be the same is true of measurments and sections. DS are producing an enhanced payed for viewer for 3DXML that has these capabilities.

PeterGuy - pulled from a R18 fact sheet document.

CATIA V5R18 meets a milestone for adopting a lightweight 3D XML format as a standard for efficient communication across the supply chain. A big step is achieved in the archiving process via STEP and/or IGES, V5R18 makes it possible to visualize
archived data on 3D XML via a batch conversion program between STEP, IGES and 3D XML. This release enriches 3D XML format with 3D annotations and real-time rendering camera and lights exposure.

Possibly where the cost option comes into play.

Try the 30 day trial of Acrobat 3D. You can see the annotations in the PDF output file. Works nice, just select the V5 file from within Acrobat and it's automatically converted to PDF.
