I'm looking for dimensional information on the tooth profile for a 3mm HTD Timing Pulley. I've looked all over and can't find that detailed profile info.

I'm making a custom part that is going to be rapid prototyped so I need the teeth to be exact instead of just represented for a drawing.

Thanks.

Have you tried Gates? Stock Drive Products should have downloadable CAD drawings, Ametric, H. Neuman, Tran Torque all should be able to help

Russell Giuliano

or do you need more accurate information.
Gates should be able to provide you with the
hob dimensions or the shaper cutter dimensions
that will generate the pulleys. I know the
dimension were in the Machineries Handbook and
assume they still are.

Thanks for the responses.

What I'm looking for exactly is a fully dimensioned drawing of the grooves on a 3mm HTD Timing Pulley.

If this info. is in the Machniery's Handbook please let me know where. I've looked through it and the only timing belt info. I can find is on the english sizes (MXL - XXH).

Thanks again.

These might get you a little closer?

Well, I think I got as close as I'm going to get. The sdp store let me download a Pro/E file and I was able to look at the sketch of the groove and use that. Nothing really guarantees me that this is accurate but it's probably as good as I'm going to get.

Thanks for the help.

I have a nice tooth profile print of an H pulley but not an HTD pulley. I could not determine the difference so I didn't post it. If it is important to you I'm sure there is a standards drafting book on this somewhere. There seems to be timing belt profiles available in catalogs but I don't know if that helps you?

Yes, H and HTD are two different things. H is one of the standard english timing belt profiles for which there is plenty of documentation.

HTD is one of a few different metric profiles and finding documentation on them proved a little more difficult. I found plenty of places that sold HTD but they never supplied any information on the pulleys beyond O.D., width, flange dims, etc. Nothing on the grooves.

Anyway, I finally found a 3-D model to download and I'm going to assume (yeesh) that it's correct.

Thanks again for all you help.

Gates Catalogues suggests that they do
provide 3d drawings of some of their
parts.
How accurate do you need to be.
Is this a school project?

1. As I said above, I found a 3-D model of the correct pulley.

2. As I said above, I'm making a rapid prototype of it so it needs to be completely accurate.

3. No, it's not a school project.
