For a groundwater remediation project I've designed an aboveground pump skid to pump groundwater out of one zone, add an amendment and then reinject into a different zone. One desired feature is to be able to reverse the flow, ie switch the extraction and injection zones. It seems to me that an LL-ported 4-way ball valve would be ideal. However, I'm having a tough time finding a source that is on my client's (large chemical company with global standards for how they want things done) approved manufacturer's list.

Can anyone recommend a good quality 4-way valve, or an alternative, say a 4-way plug valve? My fall-back position is to use two 3-way valves.

I'm pumping groundwater containing high concentrations of chlorinated solvents (carbon tet and PCE), high chlorides and sulfides. Average flowrate: 3-12 gpm. Average pressure: 10-30 psi. Piping is all 1" 316L SS.

Thanks, Graybags,

I had not come across this source. Unfortunately, I am in the USA and their distributors are only in Europe and Africa. I have found a couple of suppliers that are not on the approved vendor/manufacturer list for my client.

Are 4-way ball valves generally not accepable in the petrochemical industry, or is it that there is such a limited use for them that few manufacturers make them?

I have used a lot of 4-way Barksdale valve with success. They have many options depending on flow, pressure and mounting and they will often make special modifications for special applications. The media may be challenge - most of my experience has been with hydraulics fluid, mineral oil, and air - not sure how they would perform with your media.
