Just wondering if anyone knew if 409 SS becomes brittle if you heat it up to 525 F and then bring it down to ambient temperature.
I'm working on a project were we use 50" x 100" x 0.036" thick 409 SS grids that are heated up to 525 F continously for a long periods of time (days or week) before being removed and allowed to cool. The grid itself has a oval pattern cut into it and there is very little material between the ovals.
I worry about handling the grids after several times of heating and cooling and them becoming brittle and breaking the remaining material between the oval patterns.
Any help is appreciated.
