Looking at pumping essentially water with maybe a bit of residual algae. 2 to 3 percent. I am looking at a progressing cavity pump.

What other pumps would be able to handle the low head, water treatment plant duty and the potential for goo.

I look forward to reading your suggestions! In the meantime,
I'll be reading the other threads.

Thanks.

Propeller type pumps will work well here.

High volume, low head pumps are availalble in many types. Your TDH sounds very low. Are you real sure about it ?

Screw pumps are often used in this situation/

good luck

Contact a supplier / manufacturer of high volume -low head irrigation pumps.
Where are you on this planet, this might help in giving you a suppliers name?

Thanks for your input. I really like the propeller pumps (thanks for that suggestion, rmw!) and am comparing initial and energy costs compared with our line of pc pumps - which appears to be the only option I have in our lines of pumps.

From my cursory research online, the prop pump looks like the answer.

What are you finding for a ballpark price of a propeller pump for 500 gpm, 10 feet? No manufacturers please just price info if I may (is that a no, no?). 10 hp ? Rpms?

PC pump i am looking at going with 10 hp and a gear reducer from 1800 rpm to ~290.

The flow and head are correct and this is a unique application.

I am taking the weekend and Monday off, but i will be calling around for prices on Tuesday if not just for my own edumacationage!

Thanks! Have a good weekend.
