I am doing a component (its a sheet so not solid) that is laminated and I would like to add a section view showing the plies. My plan was to offset the section line to generate a series of curves. The problem is that I cannot offset the section curve. I was expecting to be able to extract the curve then offset it trim it etc. but cannot find the command.

The next question is how can you edit the length if the section line. I only want the section line to pass through the edge of the component and not through the whole component a partial section view so to speak.

Thanks in advance.

Your best bet is to create your offset curves using Modeling functions since the Section 'curves' that are created in the Drafting module are not really 'curves', at least not in the sense that they can be used secondary modeling operations, like an Offset Curve.

Thanks.

I am using NX4.

I was expecting to be able to extract the section "curve" as it is very complicated then be able to offset it. I have just moved over from Ideas.
