Hi,

I have a quarter model which stands for an entire model of a rectangular plate with a centered hole. I used the orthotropic anisotropic material and defined those 11 constants (c, D, b1111, b2222, b.......). I also set two symmetric boundary conditions for left and bottom sides of the model and two negative pressure loads (stretching) applying on the other two sides. However, I got an error which said

"Anisotropic material properties without a local orientation system have been defined for 99 elements. Anisotropic material properties must be defined in a local orientation system. The elements are identified in element set ErrElemAnisotropicMaterial."

What does it mean? I'm wondering if anyone can solve this problem.

Thanks for your help!

An anisotropic material, by definition, has direction dependence built-in. You need to assign a local coordinate system to the set of elements of interest with 1 or X-axis along the 'main' or fiber direction. It is available in the Part module.
