Hello,
Has anyone come across some software that would allow me to design the frame of an autogyro by specifying the material used, its thickness and shape, mounting bolts, etc? As autogyro's don't seem to be too common, most of the programs I've looked into don't cater for this type of craft.

Thanks.

Hi Charisma.

I have designed and build a gyro. There are only a few things that you have to get right for almost any design to fly safely.
1 - balance... the gyro should hang level with pilot in seat "full & empty fuel tanks"

2 - centre of pressure... This should be behind the CG & rotor head
If it is in front the gyro may want to swap ends in a power off situration.

3 - vertical relationship between the line of trust & CG
... The CG should be at least at the same hight as the prop hub or higher if it is below the prop hub should the rotors becomes unloaded the prop trust will try and push the front of the gyro down piviting it around the CG.

Keep the weight as high as possable to lift the CG.

My design has twin tail booms letting 1/4 of the prop swing
between them which lowed the line of trust.

I have a programme to work out the CG & line of trust relationship email me if you would like a copy.

Regards,
Peter
