Per 321.1.4 (c), A-36 may be used for shoes at temperatures within the range of -20 F to 650 F with an allowable stress in tension of 12 ksi.

 
It looks like that would apply as long as I had a repad of line spec material on the pipe and weld the shoes to that. That definitely helps some.
