Hi, I have a question for you Allen Bradley HMI experts.
I have an AB 1756L61 with 4 x 2711 series Versaview HMIs
I set up each HMI with a copy of the graphics and alarms with a common horn triggered by logic in the PLC.
It's possible to acknowledge the horn from any one of the 4 screens but each alarm (the graphic part) is independent.
Now the client is making noises about wanting to acknowledge the graphic message on one screen and having it acknowledged globaly. I don't know if this is possible using the canned alarm scheme, I dont think there is a tag that can be linked from PLC logic to the alarm acknowledge button.
Oh, they also asked me to remove the "Acknowledge All" button so each alarm has to be acknowledged one at a time, I suspect that only the alarm in focus get's acknowledged.

If someone knows a method I would appreciate hearing about it.
I would also be interested to hear how you think the AB system rates as an alarm package.

Thanks
Roy

The solution depends on whether you are using the ALM style tags in the processor for your alarms.

In FT Studio ME, open the Alarm setup. In the dialog box you will see in the lower right hand corner a multicolum list box labeled Optional trigger connections. The ones you want are call Ack and Remote ack. You can read up in the help section on this.

If you are using the ALM tags, the bits and logic for these ack tags are already there. If not then you will have to create the tags, and implement the logic that deals with them.

DJS, thanks for the input, as soon as I get a chance I will check out the tags.
Regards
Roy
