Hello,
I've been introduced to a CFD project that includes modeling a steel pipe in a fluid environment (any type of fluid for now will suffice). However, I am only familiar with the vary basics of modeling on the CFD database that has no structural interaction. Can anyone lead me in the right direction as to where to begin modeling the pipe interaction inside the fluid? I would just like to fix the pipe in place as a solid structure with some length and a random circular cross section while having a flow going across the face.

are you interested in flow or stresses in the pipe?
just asking because a fluid structure interaction seems like overkill for something as rigid as a steel pipe.
Modeling the pipe as a rigid surface boundary condition (no slip) is more than likely enough.

I'm more interested in the flow. Not so much the stresses. However, I do see where you are coming from. Fluid-Structure interaction would be more like that infamous "water bottle drop" example right?
