Abaqus contact cohesive behaviour

Hey.
I modelled a contact cohesive interation between two components with a normal behaviour as well. When the damage reaches 1, is there penetration between the two components? As I didn't contrain them, I'm not sure if without the cohesive they penetrate each other.

If contact occurs again for debonded surfaces, it is detected so there should be no penetration. You can choose whether the surfaces will be able to stick again or not (by default they won't stick again).
 
My doubt was just about penetration. Thank you.
