Hi,
I am working in Abaqus Explicit orthogonal cutting. For this i am using johnson cook damage evolution. The workpiece material is Ti alloy (Ti6Al4V - Grade 5). If I am changing damage evolution value slightly, whole chip formation changes. Can someone tell me how much value should be used to get chip formation in orthogonal cutting for the same material. I am attaching a screenshot of it.

Sidmane,

The damage evolution value can be either fracture energy based (for which formula is provided in the documentation) or displacement (plastic strain) based for which you can refer to literature to find values suitable for your material and process.
