Dear all,
I am using abaqus to simulate the transmission mechanism, set the input gear speed around the z-axis to 150rpm, set movable teeth unit type to shell, movement output via movable teeth push output gear, set face-to-face contact between them. However, during the simulation process, the input gear experienced abnormally large deformations.I can't solve it well. Any suggestions will be highly helpful.

Can you share the .inp or (better) .cae file ? More details are needed to provide help.

So you are concerned about those dents in the elliptical part ? They seem to appear away from contact.

Did you try increasing the mesh density ?

Also, is this process supposed to be so abrupt/dynamic ? Kinetic energy is significant, the moment is applied instantaneously and the time of the process is rather short. Is that what you want to achieve here ?
