Hello,

i'm new to Abaqus and i'm on a heat transfer simulation to simulate the heat flux through an aluminium cylinder.
Here's my Problem:

I have an aluminium cylinder which is dipped into a liquid silicone bath of known temperature.
I want to find out special temperatures at certain points mainly inside of the cylinder.
The only parameters - except of material properties - i want to give to the simulation is the temperature of
the bath and the environment temperature.
Is this possible for the program to simulate it like this?

The main problem is here to define the film coefficient. Normally, this coefficient is not constant but it depends - besides some other parameters - on the temperature difference
between the surface and the environment.
Can i define a formula which includes the surface temperature as a variable so
that the programm computes the surface temperature and afterwards the film coefficient at each place on the cylinder?

Can i use an analytical field for this case? And how can i refer to the temperature as variable ?

I really hope you can help me with my simulation-problem.

Many regards,

Lukas

Yes, you can give a formula for the local heat transfer coefficient by using the subroutine FILM. In this outine the local temperature of the current node in the call is available for you.
