Hello all,

I am currently working at a structural dynamic problem with Abaqus/Explicit. The work involves an impact and in this context the goal is to connect two rigid bodies (with their constraint, mass and velocity field) to each other with a NONLINEAR SPRING; the element used is the so called SPRINGA element.

Using File-->Import-->Model I have imported the input file, which I have previously modified in the following way:

*Spring, elset=SPRING-spring, nonlinear

0,0

1000,0.002481

2000,0.004963

3000,0.007444

4000,0.009926

5000,0.012407

6000,0.014888

7000,0.015062

8000,0.015261

9000,0.015484

*Element, type=SpringA, elset=SPRING-spring

But when I import it in Abaqus, I have the following error:

WARNING: The following keywords/parameters are not yet supported by the input file reader:

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

*PREPRINT

*SPRING, NONLINEAR

The model "AAA_MODIFY" has been imported from an input file.

Please scroll up to check for error and warning messages.

What did I do wrong? Is the input file correct?

Thank you so much for the help!

Hi,

Your syntax looks good.

Abaqus/CAE does not support all abaqus keywords or some of them are supported only with limited options.
Respect to abaqus documentation *SPRING keyword is supported only with ELSET, ORIENTATION, RTOL options.

Full list of supported keywords can find here:
Abaqus/CAE User's Manual, Appendix A: Keyword support

If you have to import your model into Abaqus/CAE you can try use connector elements with nonlinear *CONNECTOR ELASTICIY instead spring elements.

Regards,
Bartosz
