Hi,

I have a really silly question...
I have an input file from a senior, however, there is a sentence I don't really understand....hope someone can kindly help me

*Shell Section, elset=Set-Membrane, material=Material-Cortex, offset=SPOS, poisson=0.5
0.2, 5

I don't understand the offset and '0.2, 5' part...does it mean the shell is 0.5 (SPOS) away from the master surface???

Easy. Search for "Shell Section" in the documentation and check the CAE User's and Analysis User's Manuals.

This sentence defines the SHELL SECTION assigned to the SHELL ELEMENTS ....

so the 0.2 will be the thickness of the shell element
and the 5 is the number of integration points through this thickness.

elset=Set-Membrane is the set of shell elements that are assigned the aforementioned shell section
offset=SPOS is the offset methode used to extrude the section thickness with respect to the line geometry you defines in your model
