Hello,
I recently downloaded Abaqus 2021, along with other softwares like Gmsh and CalculiX for comparison purposes. I am trying to run a simple job in Abaqus and it does not run at all - it gets aborted. I see that in my work directory the file that should be getting saved as .inp actually gets saved as a .ccx file, which opens in CalculiX. I tried using ChatGPT and looking up different forums but have struggled to find help.

Has anybody had this problem before that knows how to solve the issue? There must be a way to save jobs as .inp format but I cannot find it. Please let me know, thank you!

ccx is just an abbreviation and name of CalculiX binary, this open-source solver doesn’t use it as a file format (it uses .inp input files like Abaqus). How did you obtain this file ? Submitting jobs and writing input files in Abaqus/CAE always creates .inp files. Also, what is the content of this file ? Proper Abaqus keywords ?

I obtain this file simply by running the job. These are the files that are created as I attempt to run the job (image attached).

I don't know why this problem occurs and why my jobs get aborted. The error message that pops up is:
The job input file "Job-1.inp" has been submitted for analysis.
"Error in job Job-1: XML parsing failure for job Job-1. Shutting down socket and terminating all further messages. Please check the .log, .dat, .sta, or .msg files for information about the status of the job.
Job Job-1 aborted due to errors."

This "CCX Input Deck" is just how the system recognizes this file type but what is its extension ? CalculiX is usually installed in a non-invasive way on Windows.

Are there additional error messages in the log files (.log, .dat, .msg, .sta) ? The reason can be different.
