Dear Colleagues
I'm trying to get results file (.fil) from Abaqus.
I have checked the below attached links but couldn't figure out how to use "*EL FILE " keyword to achieve this purpose.

I tried adding the following lines to the Job-1.inp file and import it to Abaqus as a model but get the following warning in Abaqus CAE:
****************************************************************************************************
WARNING: The following keywords/parameters are not yet supported by the input file reader:
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
*ELFILE
*FILEOUTPUT
*PREPRINT
The model "Job-1" has been imported from an input file.
Please scroll up to check for error and warning messages.
****************************************************************************************************
I don't know how to use the keyword to get results file (.fil)

Thanks for your tips,
Regards,
Yunus.

PS: Documentation contents checked:

1. Abaqus/Standard output variable identifiers:

2. Output to the data and results files:

3. *EL FILE Define results file requests for element variables:

4. *FILE OUTPUT Define output written to the results file:

If you want to include keywords not supported by Abaqus/CAE, you can either use the built-in Keywords Editor or add them to the input file and submit it without importing to Abaqus/CAE.

Dear FEA way
thanks for your nice tip.
Now I got a .fil file which when I open by Notepad++ or Notepad it consists of random meaning-less characters.
I expected that I can see the requested outputs there.

How could I see the results in this results file (.fil)?

You konw, I'm trying to see the order of, for example, (Principal Stresses SP, Stress Invariants SINV ,...) in the results file so when
I am using Abaqus subroutines and GETVRM utility, I would know that which ARRAY() would be the principal stress 1, and which would be principal stress 2 and so on. (ARRAY(1), ARRAY(2), ARRAY(3)....)

This is my intention to see the .fil file.

Kind regards.

Fil is a legacy file format in Abaqus meant mainly for use with external postprocessing software and it can’t be read directly with text editors (as opposed to dat files). But you can use the *FILE FORMAT, ASCII keyword to write the results file as ASCII instead of binary.
