Hi,

I have created a rivet in Abaqus and I want to mesh it. The example is from Abaqus analysis, users guide, getting started interactive edition, 3D contact problem.

I have partitioned the rivet sufficiently for meshing purposes. Still, when I am trying to mesh by part I am getting the below message:
" The selected region can not be meshed automatically, using the assigned element shapes. They must either be partitioned, assigned a tet shape or manually meshed using create bottom-Upmesh tool".

The rivet model looks as attached.

Could you please provide any direction here, how I can mesh it?

Thanks in advance!

You don’t need that many partitions to mesh this geometry. Start from scratch and separate the heads from the shaft first. Then add more partitions if necessary. Make sure that there are no unwanted geometrical features. For example, this chamfer on the bottom may be unnecessary.

Thanks! I will try this option

Partition an inner cylinder, that can be swept axial. The outer regions usually can be swept then circumferential.
