ABAQUS, partitioning an edge

Hello Everyone,

Does anyone knows how it is possible to partition an edge in one step with multiple points (like multiple datum points or multiple parameter values)? I know how to partition one edge one by one. The problem of doing it one by one is the amount of time that it takes to do that. For example if I want to put 50 points on one edge I have to pick that edge 50 times and partition it, which takes a lot of time.

I am doing the whole process by scripting with Python so I would be glad if the solutions are in scripting format (I am using ABAQUS 2016).

I don't understand. Why don't you do that partitioning with your script?

I am doing it with my script, but it does not matter you go with script or not, if you want to partition an edge 50 times it will take a log time. My goal is to reduce that time

It does matter, because when I want to partition a edge 50 times, I'm much faster with a script compared to doing it manually.

Not with scripting.

>My goal is to reduce that time

Use scripting.

Anymore questions? [wink]

I agree that doing it with script is much faster, but in my case, I have 700 points and it takes a bit more than 9.8 min for my pc to partition 8 edges. If I go without scripting this time will change to 18 min.
