Hi all,

I am an ABAQUS novice working on a graduation project. My model is a reinforced concrete Tee-joint with steel rebars and stirrups embedded to the concrete. The concrete is modeled using the Damage-Plasticity model, with mostly default suggested values. The elastic and plastic values are derived from experimental values. In addition to the embeddment, the column and the beam is tied together using the tie command. The model is subjected to an axial load as well as a displacement force.

The error that I am getting is :Too many attempts made for this increment after a runtime of ~ 1 hour, with many warnings similar to this:
-The strain increment is so large that the program will not attempt the plasticity calculation at 1914 points
-The plasticity/creep/connector friction algorithm did not converge at 23038 points

I have been stuck for the past week, I do not why this is not working. I have attached the cae model for your convenience. Any comments and suggestions are greatly appreciated!

Thank you!

Ben

I am glad that you read the guidelines and feel the post shouldn't have been written. So, while I recommend talking to your faculty, colleagues, friends, etc. I want to let you know that "Too many increments.." is a symptom, not the cause of the disease. Check the .dat/.msg files for messages, look at the output, etc. to investigate the root cause.
