Hi everybody,

I want to optimize the thickness of a shell-modell to get the weight-specific stiffest solution.

The problem is that i have no target volume/weight. The only constraint is that my shell-thikness should be between 0.1 mm and 0.3 mm. And the aim of the optimization is to get the stiffest but also lightest structure.

I want to find the optimal ratio between stiffnes and weight.

But i dont know what i should use as the design responses and as the optimization constraints.

You can set compliance minimization (and thus stiffness maximization) as an objective. Then define two constraints - one with that shell thickness range and another with volume constrained to be less or equal to the original volume.
