Abaqus - View cut visualization of a quadratic Hex mesh - seems strange at some view cuts

Hi

I have meshed a cylinder in abaqus using quadratic hex sweep mesh. The cylinder which is partitioned, is seen on the following figure. The 4 outer cells are meshed using medial axis, and the rest are meshed using advancing front.

I then use the visualization module to see how the mesh appears inside the cylinder. I find the result strange. Why do I see these curved element lines at some of the section cuts, while other section cuts appers without? Is it a Abaqus error when a section cut plane is coincident with a partition plane? It however does not occur using linear elements.

Check what's inside using:
- translucency
- wireframe display
- Query --> Mesh
- maybe Enable Selection --> Elements
- and, most importantly, removal of individual elements using the Remove Selected tool (you can "dig" inside and check the shape and type of those suspiciously looking elements)

Hi FEA way, thanks again for your help.

Query output seems fine:

Total number of nodes: 279995
Total number of elements: 67160
67160 quadratic hexahedral elements of type C3D20

And when using wireframe display with interior elements included, it looks correct.

Then it should be just a matter of visualization of the view cut. To make sure you can remove/replace some of those elements and see if they have correct shapes.
