Dear fellow Abaqus users,

I am using Abaqus/CAE 2017. Now I intend to simulate the permeability of one porous structure. Since the structure is geometrically complicated, it is to be imported as a Standard/Explicit Model into Abaqus.

Is it possible to carry out the fluid dynamics simulation for a standard/explicit model in Abaqus? Or does anyone know some trick to convert a standard/explicit model into a CFD model in the importing phase?

Thanks in advance!

Given the terminology you are using, I suspect you are new to Abaqus. Assuming you are not new to FEM (or numerical methods, in general), Abaqus/Standard uses an implicit numerical scheme to solve the governing equations of equilibrium whereas Abaqus/Explicit uses the explicit scheme to solve the governing equations by time marching by assuming equilibrium. Given the practicalities of a particular problem, one or the other scheme is better suited.

Now, with that context, what can you tell us about the problem you are trying to solve? What input data do you have access to feed the model? What experimental data do you have to gain confidence in the predictions of the model?
