Hi,

I am doing linear buckling analysis of cold-formed steel columns under axial compression.

After I submitted the job I got the below error message:
Error in job Linear_Buckling: XML parsing failure for job Linear_Buckling. Shutting down socket and terminating all further messages. Please check the .log, .dat, .sta, or .msg files for information about the status of the job.

Can anyone help with any solution, please?

Looking forward!

Did you check those files ? Do they contain any additional error messages ? Make sure that other analyses work (that might be an issue with license server or Abaqus installation). Also, disable parallel processing if you use it.

Hi,

Thanks for your quick reply. I am very new to Abaqus.
The message file provided below error:
The eigenvalues cannot be found. This could be caused due to instabilities in the base state (check for negative eigenvalues in the general analysis step)

I have provided, ENCASTRE boundary condition at the bottom.

Could you suggest, please?

Thanks in advance!

If you have multiple parts in the model, make sure that they are all properly connected (most likely with tie constraints).

Thanks again!.. I will check this.

Hi,

I have modeled the rounded corner of the cold-formed steel channel section and used the S4R element.

Do you think it Could be a problem due to the rounded corner?

Most likely not, connections/interactions are probably the cause of this problem. You can try running modal analysis to see which parts are disconnected from the rest of the model.

Great! thanks again. I will check the disconnectivity.

Hi, I corrected the connectivity and the error got resolved. Many thanks for your help!
