Hi;

I loaded my I steel girder (3 spans, 27m each, 1.7m high, Young's modulus 210 GPA...) with its self-weight and a distributed load of 500 N only and I got the attached result.
I could neither understand the results (huge deflection) nor interpret them. Results are shown in mm, Right?? How can I visualize Stresses (tensile and compression) in the cross-section?
PS: it is an existing bridge and deflection shouldn't exceed L/500 (54 mm).
Is there any mistake in my inputs?

Thank you in advance.

Result units depend on the units used in preprocessing. So if you use SI units (m,N,kg,s) for modeling then displacements will be in meters and stresses will be in Pascals. In this case it seems that there’s a problem with unit consistency. Make sure that everything (geometry, material properties, loads and so on) is defined in the same unit system.

Thank you for your quick reply.
But still, the problem is not solved. I entered the dimension of the parts in mm, Young's Modulus in MPA (210000), loads in N, density in Tonnes/mm3 (7.85∙10-9 tonne/mm3), gravity force in mm/s2 (9810 mm/s2) in accordance with the this website : Is there any other reason for these abnormal results ??

Double check all settings, especially load, boundary condition and interactions.

@Mustaine3: The NLGEOM was off, and I think that the shell thicknesses for all elements (web, top flanges, and bottom flange) are correct.
@FEA way: I will check again, thank you for your help.
