Hi,

I am trying to use SIMQKE1 program to generate artificial acceleration time-histories fitting to a target spectrum. I have two questions:
1- What is the target spectrum must be used for SIMQKE1: a velocity response spectrum or an acceleration response one?
2- How can we check the accuracy of SIMQKE1 ouput or that the SIMQKE1 output (e.g. artificial acceleration time-histories) is reasonable for use?
Can any one give me some advice? Thank you in advance.

I don't have much experience with artificial time history responses, but I do know that the USGS website will generate them for you. I'm not sure what kind of algorithm they use, but you could probably compare yours to theirs just to see if you're close.

What do you mean by target spectrum? Is this similar to a target displacement? I'd like to learn more about this type of analysis. Is this for an actual project or an acedemic exercise?

Thanks to Shemp,

I meant a velocity response spectrum or an acceleration one. In my case, I want to use it for an acedemic exercise.

I don´t know how to use this SIMQKE1 program (witch is certainly one of the best of its kind) but i did program one for my self as a projekt for my University. If you´d be interested i could send it to you (together with my projekt paper).
The Program is not as advanced as the SIMQKE but its easy to use and has a GUI.

Dear Levity Marko,
With respect to your message could you please send me the program together with your project paper as I would be interested in familiarising myself with the program.
