Aboveground gas pipeline

Dear pipelinerS and other,

I would like to ask you people, I've seen there are gas pipeline aboveground in the tropic area(warmth climate area). What is the main reason or main issue to choose this way ? As far as I know, some reason for aboveground pipeline are for geothermal service, or pipeline that would be build in subtropic and cold climate.
Anybody could give me enlighten ?

The main issue for above ground pipelines is either rock or very cold ground which could liquefy if you put something warm in it. Both of these are rare.

Most pipelines are buried in public areas for security, safety, access across them and reduced cost.

first of all, thanks for the quick response Mr. littleInch.

There are 2 type soil ground where the pipeline i've seen. The first half is usual soil&clay and the half way is siltysoil/swamp. So it's make me wonder, why the company allowed to apply aboveground pipeline.
According to your opinion, is there any clue or other issued that can you guess why this aboveground applied ?
 
Basically because they can. I don't know what country or region you're in, but there is usually some sort of government approval required to lay gas pipelines, but clearly whoever laid it thinks it's easier / cheaper to do it this way and someone has let them. Remote locations and oil fields sometimes do it this way, but for gas, the issue of public safety usually forces it below ground.

when you say "above ground", do you mean just laid on the surface or actually on properly prepared supports? Plastic or steel? More than one? Big or small? Low or high pressure? distance from the road?

With no description, no photos, no details ( size, pressure, length, number of people around etc), there's not much more to say.
