Hello everyone,

I want to simulate deflection in a Plastic part similar to the dashboard of a car if forces are applied on its face.

The material of the part is ABS.

I am using Solidworks Simulation non-linear dynamics for this analysis.

I don't know how to apply non-linear properties to the ABS plastic. I copied the in-built "ABS" material to the "Custom Materials". But I don't know, which material model should I select for this case.

Any help will be much appreciated.

It depends on which model you have data for. If you can get constants for hyperelastic or viscoelastic model (from experiment, literature or SolidWorks material library) then go for these models. Otherwise, you will have to stay with linear elasticity which is not accurate for polymers in most cases. You could also add plasticity, if you can find appropriate data.
