Acad 2006 - Snap problems

I seem to have lots the nack of snapping correctly. When moving objects with snap on, often if I am zoomed out I get what looks like snap on to where I want (even with the correct snap symbol highlighted) but for some reason the object snaps to something else (invisible). I presume the accuracy setting is set too precise.

Is this correct and how is it changed - if not do you have any ideads as to why? (can it be related to the dimensions of the drawing and the objects used - mostly problems with blocks)

Cheers. Sean.

You may have to watch when OTRACK is on. Sometimes it will snap to things that were hovered over at some point.

Do you have "snap within blocks" set on? Also, if you are zoomed out, the snap box will "find" and snap to the object on top of others and closest to the center of the box. You may have to make the aperture smaller to include fewer objects. Try also changing VIEWRES to a higher number - AutoCAD may not be showing you the most accurate rendition of the object and you think you are on an END but you are closer to some other object.

The viewres adjustment might help - I'd not thought of that.

I presume when you say snap within blocks you are refering to insertion snap - if not, help. the insertion was on so I'll try without.

Its such a basic problem but it seems to have croped up recently and I am missing the snap quite often now - anyway I'll give it a go - viewres is up to 5000 from 1000.

I may have misspoken - I was thinking of Grips within blocks, not Snap within blocks. I use Viewres of 20,000

Seems rather odd but the problem is solved. I changed to viewres 20,000 but also at the same time got rid of snap to intersection but turned on apparent intersection (to replace it) and all seems fine.

Odd that apparent intersection doesn't pick up the invisible intersection points which have been mucking me about - but who cares - I'm happy now - and its monday, which is an unusual combination.

Thanks for your help IFRs.

Cheers. Sean.
