ACAD2K with multiple monitors

I've just set up a multiple monitor configuration using AutoCAD 2004, and I'm having an issue with using the digitizer as both a screen pointer and command function device.

Relevant specifications are:

Nvidia GeForceFX 5200 series card
2 CRT (analog) monitors
CalComp DrawingBoard III digitizer
TabletWorks driver V7.46 w/ WinTAB driver
Nvidia reference driver 56.64

While I can get the dual monitor setup to work, (using true Dual View support, not horizontal spanning), and have easy access across both monitors, I've found that I can only access both monitors while in AutoCAD if I disable the "Allow applications pointer capture" feature in the Tabletworks software. The problem is that I'm using a tablet command setup with a pointing area that is precisely "screen-sized" (about 4:3 ratio), and when AutoCAD captures the pointer upon start up, it traps the cursor within the confines of the primary monitor dimensions. The only two methods I can find to access the secondary screen with AutoCAD running are:

1) Disable program capture as outlined above. This unfortunately means that my menu commands on the digitizer are no longer functional. While I can compensate by using toolbars to create a sort of "virtual digitizer layout" on the secondary monitor, I've become very proficient at using the command set as layed out on the DrawingBoard, so this solution, while workable, is not the preferred one.

2) Extend AutoCAD across both monitors. This allows the program to recognize a "stretched" screen pointing area, but it splits my drawing right down the middle. Additionally, this defeats my original goal in creating a dual-monitor setup-- namely, allowing me to access hydraulic calculation subroutines and reference material on the secondary monitor while still maintaining a full-screen drawing in AutoCAD on the primary monitor.

I can find no way to tell AutoCAD that I wish to leave the screen pointing area to go to the secondary monitor and still retain access to my digitizer commands, other than simply redesignating the screen pointing area to be twice as large horizontally. This, unfortunately, would require a complete rewriting of my tablet menu file-- something which I'm understandably trying to avoid.

Has anyone had experience setting up dual-monitor stations under the NView software with a command function digitizer? Any help or insights would be greatly appreciated, as I'm about to enter hair-pulling mode. :)

Our office uses dual monitors with AutoCAD, but we do not use digitizers. So most of the time our draftsmen stretch the AutoCAD screen across both monitors, which is great for the detail work, everyone who uses this setup becomes addicted to it in our office. I wish I had an answer for you for the calcs portion, though.
