Dear All,

I am simulating the Impact test as shown in the Figure.

I want to get the acceleration of the projectile after impact.

There are 2 ways of doing that. Which one seems to be correct?

1. I get the acceleration of the central model at the surface of the projectile
2. I Find the average of the acceleration of all nodes?

Or is there any other way of doing it?

The standard way of doing this with a rigid projectile (I assume that's the case here) is to read the values from its reference point.

Thanks for your response FEA

I did try that. The problem is when I get out put at n=1 and then at n= 20
Its different

What do you mean by "n" ? Nodes ? When you read from the reference point, there's a single value of each component for the whole rigid part and it varies only in time.

By n Abaqus wants that at which interval should the outcome be given

I put n=1 or n=20

the results are different

If you want accurate history output results, request output at each increment for the reference point. It's a single point so not much data to work with.
