Can anyone suggest some design resources for concrete stairs?
I'm looking for design examples for single flights and stairs with multiple flights that switchback. Thank you.

Structural Concrete: Theory and Design has a chapter devoted to stairs (6th edition isn’t too bad on ebay: Link)

Edit:
There is also Staircases by Bangesh (Link), I think this one has a switchback example in it just note it’s a bit older so the design aspects likely not valid.

Older versions of the CRSI manual have a chapter on stairs with tabulated designs and some methodology.

Man - I'm gettin' old. This is from way back.

Great reference, thanks everyone.

JAE, which edition of the CRSI is that from?

I'm not sure - copied it long ago and in my own reference book. Probably at least before 1990.

You can get a copy off of Abebooks for $15 or less. I have also found it useful in determining the original intended design capacity of old concrete joists.

And really - stair design like this is simply flat one-way slab design. The only tricky part is figuring out the dead weight of the stair (slab plus treads).

Thanks again for the information. I'm pretty good with the concept for single fights. It's the multiple switch backs that I have to wrap my mind around.
