Hello,

I've been trying to create a spring force that will act as the repulsive force between magnets.

I cannot seem to create a simple nonlinear spring. I used data points from the magnet force equation to create a spline, but the simulation fails as soon as I add an initial velocity to the part joined.

Is there some way to just input actual function that takes the force as a function of spring deformation? It seems like this should be a very simple task, but I cannot figure out the syntax or find a resource from MSC software to use as a guide.

Thanks

Hmm, that would seem to be trivial. I do not use view, but: Select a spring go into the stiffness field, right click, select spline, then create the spline.

Hi Greg,

I have already created a spline that follows the function of the magnet force.
When it comes to other Adams software, what do you use? I have licensing for a number of MSC products, maybe another would be more appropriate for this task?

I have noticed you are quite knowledgeable when it comes to Adams from other threads I have viewed. May I ask what you reference, if not learned simply by trial and error?

Thanks

For View I did the tutorials many years ago, and I did them until I got them right.

I use Chassis. View is the correct package for general purpose modelling, and the more modern specific packages are based on view. Chassis is a text based database manager.

Try replacing your spline with a simple spring and see if the model runs as expected.
