Adaptive Meshing Failing

Hi all,

I'm having trouble getting an adaptivity study to run. Every time it runs I get the error:

"Sets corresponding to the active remeshing rules cannot be found in the specified ODB"

I'm not sure what's going wrong. I can run the adaptivity study if I use an entire part of the assembly, but I need to select regions of the part. I created a geometry set from within the assembly module of the faces I would like to remesh, and selected this from the remeshing rule, but then I get this error.

I am using Von Mises stress as the error indicator.

This also happens if I try and run the remeshing rule manually - I get the same error.

Has anyone else encountered this error and resolved the issue?

Try creating partition of the cell (3D) or surface (2D) around the region of interest and using it for remeshing.

Thanks for the suggestion!

I gave that a shot but it didn't fix the problem... but I did learn more about partitioning and cells vs. sets vs. surfaces! So that was helpful.

It ended up being that the field output request didn't contain the error indicator values. From everything I could find it seemed that this should be automatically requested by creating the rule, but it hadn't been selected or produced for whatever reason.

Does creating the remeshing rule usually automatically pull the error indicators or is this something I'll have to set every time?

Error indicator output is automatically written to .odb file so there's no need to request it separately. Thus if your analysis doesn't produce such output then there must be some error in the defined procedures. Check the generated text files (.msg, .dat) for warnings if these files exist.
