Hi I am working on a project where I need to use metric tap sizes that are not in the standard list of taps (when creating a tapped hole feature) included with nx 7.5. I would like to append the NX default data with some standard sizes that I use frequently.

Does anyone have any experience with this/know how to do this?

Thanks,
Jacob

The .xml file which contains the threaded hole data can be found at...

<NX install folder>\UGII\modeling_standards

...and is named 'nx502_Threaded_Hole_Standard.xml'. This file can be edited, if you're careful (make a back-up copy first).

I was able to add my new thread sizes, but I'm running into a different, related problem.

When I add the callout into my draft using a feature parameter a M4 X .7 hole comes through as M4 X .03 I checked the thread hole standards XML, but this .03 value doesn't seem to exist.

How can I get my callouts to read the correct value?

I suspect that it's a units issue as 0.7 mm rounds-off to 0.03 inches.

Yes you are correct it seems to be a units issue. My part is in US standard, but I needed metric screw holes. This may be a bug with nx 7.5 since I have selected millimeters in the style dialog of the dimension.

Unless you have a suggestion on how to fix this issue I will do these callouts by hand.

Thanks,
Jacob
