Hi All,
Can anyone here suggest how to do FDM 3D printing simulation in Abaqus CAE with AM modeller ?
Thanks.

In the Dassault Systemes Knowledge Base article related to this plug-in you can find additional files, including tutorials. One of them is for Fused Filament Fabrication so I would start from it.

@FEA way, Thank you so much for reply.
Tried to check knowledge base, but content is not available.
Can you share me any tutorial video link.
Thanks.

If you can’t access Knowledge Base now, wait a few hours. For some reason it’s often unavailable. Another useful source of information about AM process analyses is Abaqus documentation. It doesn’t discuss the plug-in itself but there are details and exemplary cases regarding keyword usage for such simulations. The plug-in is just an automated way of defining these few specific keywords and AM process analyses can be prepared even without it.

Hello, Is there any way other than generateEventSeries.py script, to extract event series data from Gcode file generated by Cura ?
Thanks.

Unfortunately, that’s the only solution for event series generation from g-code data provided by Dassault Systemes. You would have to write your own Python script (probably based on generateEventSeries.py) for use with software other than ReplicatorG.

@FEA_way Ok thanks.
I got one script but while running in powershell, it asks roller pad dimensions, I think it is for AM process other than FDM...Do you have generateEventSeries.py script for FDM process..?(I got to know it is available on knowledge base, but it is still inactive)

Hello, can anyone here help me in step by step procedure for using AM modeler plug-in for FDM simulation?, As a beginner, I am having difficulties in setting up the simulation.
Thanks.

In the newest release of Abaqus (2021 HF6) AM Modeler plug-in is built-in (no need to do download it separately anymore) and you can select FDM as a process type. In addition, Knowledge Base article "Abaqus\CAE Plug-in Utility for Additive Manufacturing Process Simulation" now features example files for this newest release of Abaqus and there is one for FDM too. Knowledge Base should be active now but keep in mind that access to this article requires customer privileges on your 3DS account.

Ok Thank you.
Can you attach the link, it will be very helpful!

@FEA_way
Thank you for your inspiration on additive manufacturing simulation. Now I used abaqus2021hf6 to build a simulation of additive (heat transfer), but there was a mistake: “UEPActivationSetup: Expected 6 parameters in the parameter table ABQ_AM_MaterialDeposition_Advanced. But found 3 parameters.”
I'd like to ask you how this is going on. In fact, I can still calculate it by using abaqus2020, although the result is questionable (the laser heat source is at a lower temperature).

Make sure that all parameters for this table in AM Modeler have their values defined. You can check their descriptions in the documentation chapter "ABQ_AM_MaterialDeposition_Advanced".
