With Adobe Illustrator I imported an image and outlined the lines on the image. I exported the image as a DXF & DWG and was unable to import them into NX4.

My goal is to import the image and use the lines & circles to extrude a part.

What version of NX are you running?
If you have a later version of NX it sounds like you will benefit from the "Drafting Plus" option.

If you do an info > object on one of the lines or curves what does it come up as?

Oh, I'm sorry - you were UNABLE to import it.

I found that .dwg works best with NX.

Have you tried to import the .dwg or .dxf from Adobe into AutoCAD?

I tried DWG & DXF from Illustrator without success. The translator in UG wouldn't translate, it errored out. I was able to export the DXF from illustrator into AutoCad LT then saved as DXF again (seperate file) and imported it into UG. It came in as dumb curves.

Dumb curves may work.
Are the curves in the drawing or model space?

They're in the model space, which worked for me.

Thanks

We occasionally import dxf files that have been exported from Illustrator. Usually the oldest dxf definition supported by Illustrator works the best. Also, I suggest creating a square of known size in Illustrator before exporting. That way you can scale the curves appropriately before using them. I have found that the scale is almost never correct and usually the X and Y scales are slightly different. Easy to correct if you output a 1 inch square and double check it in NX.
