When we refer to AGMA 9000 class 9 coupling, does that by default means flexible couplings already? One pump spec defines a three- piece rigid coupling while it states that “coupling assembly shall be in compliance with AGMA 9000 class 9 and achieve 4 mils total indicated runout on the shaft”. The spec also says that “the coupling shall have precision register fit and match- marking to allow repeated assembly without realignment”. Not very clear about the spec intention, should flexible or rigid coupling be used? Thanks in advance.

AGMA 9000 is balancing of flexible couplings only. I suspect you can apply AGMA 9000 balancing methods to a rigid coupling assembly but I don't see why you wouldn't just keep it simple and apply ISO 1940 / 21940 to your rigid components.

Hi Geesaman.d, really appreciate your reply. I would use ISO 1940/21940 instead.
