Hi

I have a problem to solve, regarding the minimum number of air changes per hour required in a Municipal solid waste plant.

I´m looking in Ashrae 62/2007, and even looking in DIN 1946 and EN 13779. The figures I have right now suggest between 6 and 12 ACH, depending on the contamination level.

Can anyone help with these values or with some standards specific to waste treatment plants???

Thanks

What does the code in your area say, go with it.
I think you have to talke with the city hall for this matter, it is a public issue.

Use NFPA 820, it should give you the necessary guidance for various components of a wastewater treatment plant. The areas may be comparable for contamination etc.

Using "rule of thumb" guessing for such process conditions is really last resort when you are for any reason forced to do something quickly (which should be avoided by all means normally).

Process contractor should give to you pollution data in form of mass flow emission, period. You cannot know that if you are not seasoned process specialist. I worked on construction of several WW plants and their processes can have sensible differences.

When you have pollution emission known or at least reasonably estimated by specialist, than allowed concentration stipulated by your local codes come into play, and you can calculate supply air by simple formula.

Thanks for the replies.

Just received the air quality report... a lot worst than any Waste Water i know of.

There´s no specific code in my area for Municipal solid waste contamination levels... weird but true... i will use NFPA 820 and go from there...

Thanks to all.
