hi
i had a small capacity air handling unit 2360l/s,250pa the fan motor power =1.36kw i think it is single phase but i have been told that air handling unit must be use 3 phase despite its low electrical power is this true?

What does the nameplate say it needs? If the nameplate says three phase what is there to argue about?

Depends upon where the break was when the EE did the power.

My break is 2 hp or 2 kw.

3-phase saves copper costs.

I've seen 1.5hp as the 'cutoff' for 3 phase power. Spec whatever the electrical engineer says.

Actually, on my drawings we leave the voltage and phase off the schedules and tell the bidders to check electrical and confirm that the electrical engineer is bringing the correct voltage to the equipment they want to install.
