Air/Pneumatic Pilot Hydraulic Valves with Minimal Flow Resistance?

Hi there,

Not sure if this the most appropriate forum for this question, but I'm not sure where else to post it.

I'm looking for an air pilot hydraulic valve with minimal resistance to flow for flow rates of 3gpm to 6gpm for oils with viscosities up to 1000-SUS (~ 210-cSt). Ideally, I'd find a valve with a pressure loss of 1-2 psid or better for 3-gpm @ 210-cSt.

Additionally, the operating pressure range for this application is 5 to 200 psia (absolute).

I've so far found air pilot hydraulic valves from companies such as Doering and Hyvair - but these valves can have quite high pressure losses since they appear to be designed for fluid power systems - whereas my application is mostly for low pressure fluid transfer.

I suspect that I may be hindering my search by including 'fluid power' or 'hydraulic' in my search terms, which brings up valves with high pressure losses capable of operating at several thousand psi.

Does anyone have any tips on better places to look?

thank you.

A full bore quarter turn ball valve is probably your lowest pressure drop.

5 psia? For a liquid?

Remember - More details = better answers

@LittleInch

Yeah, 5-psia for a liquid, media will be hydraulic or lubricating or gear oil and could be quite viscous. 5-psia is under intermittent conditions as there's a PD transfer pump and also a vacuum pump involved in the setup.

Your recommendation does bring up some results which could work - thank you very much. I see some offerings from Bonomi for ball valves with pneumatic operators. Not sure why I hadn't looked for ball valves already.

This is for an alternate version of an existing product in which we typically use solenoid operated 'hydraulic' valves - those valves are significantly "oversized" given the flow rate - but we need low pressure drop, so it works.

thank you!

Try google "pneumatic ball valve actuator". Is that what you are looking for?

You can also try with "pneumatic angle seat valve".
