I've seen a lot of Airbus job adverts recently which require something called ISAMI experience.
After a quick search I have found very little detail about it.
Am I right in thinking it's just a 'front-end' for a load of airbus internal programs, or is there something more clever about it ?
I'm not sure how easy it would be to become familiar enough with it to be able to apply for jobs which require it, or even if it's available outside of the airbus regime.
Anybody any experiences with it and can maybe point me in the direction of a deeper documentation of how exactly it works and what exactly it does ?
Thanks
Mr F.

Isami is a suite of stress analysis programs written by an outside supplier (outside of Airbus, that is). Some of them use a simple FE system to automatically mesh and analyse a geometry, but most use the hand analysis methods available. Is has some similarity with Boeing IAS software.

It is part of an Airbus policy of making stressing achievable by anyone with a little bit of specialised training. (Hiring actual stress engineers is still quite hard and expensive (and long may it continue to be so!). Airbus would like to render acquiring contract stressers irrelevant to getting airframe design done, as would many others.)

Attached is a (pretty negative) view of a friend was working at Filton in about 2010. I don't think I would go quite as far. But I might after a couple of beers...

I have had only limited contact with it and it's pretty much what one would expect from an attempt to simplify stressing to the point where you don't need (or think you don't need) stress engineers. The basic course was 3 days and about £1500. It would be very advisable to take the course if you're going to use ISAMI, although it can be used without a course if there are experienced users available for advice.

Google caesam isami for a bit more info.
