I attended an SEA seminar on seismic design using the 2006 IBC / ASCE 7-05 yesterday, and we were told that the first printing of the AISC 13th edition was full of errors. We were also told that if we send the first printing back to AISC we will be sent a copy of the second printing. I currently have the first printing and wasn't aware of this. I have heard there were a few errors in the first edition but this is the first I've heard of AISC trading it out for the second printing free of charge!?! Any of you heard about this?

You might be thinking of the Seismic Design Manual. It was totally recalled and re-issued.

As for the main Manual, there are errors and an errata just like every other technical manual in existence. Considering all the info that's provided (compared to what others provide), I think the accuracy is very good.

I think AISC should adopt the "Send us a set of your drawings (over 20 sheets) with <10 errors and we'll send a free Manual" approach! ;)

WHEW!!! [thumbsup]

Just checked and mine is the second edition... Thanks. I almost had a coronary.
